Now this is what I call a compilation. The BBC version includes Imogen, Elixir, Bug Blaster and Fortress. The Electron version is the same except for Fortress which is replaced by Moon Raider.

Imogen. This is a big favourite of mine on the BBC and Superior have specially converted the game to the Electron for Sam 5. Imogen is a brilliant arcade adventure which places you in the role of the wizard Imogen. You have to solve some of the most cunningly devious puzzles ever created in order to complete the game. You can at any time metamorphonsise into a cat, a monkey or your normal form (a wizard). At one stage you can even become a bird.

Elixir. Not one of Superior's best releases but good value as part of a compilation. You are a chemist who has been shrunk down to the size of a cotton reel after swallowing a potion. You have to find the magic elixir which will restore your size. Being small presents many problems with flying flash bulbs, exploding lipsticks and so on. An original, if not inspiring, game.

Bug Blaster. This is an old but very good conversion of the Centipede game from the arcades. Originally released by Alligata, Superior claim that it is even better than their own Centibug game. This is an understatement. It's a lot better. About four years ago I was hooked to this game for weeks and it still has a lot of appeal now.

Fortress (BBC version only). A technical breakthrough when first launched, Fortress has diagonal scrolling and is based on the arcade classic Zaxxon. As a re-release, it would hold up very well on its own with a bit of polishing. You fly your ship over a 3D landscape which is very convincing. All the ships even have shadows. Well worth seeing.

Moon Raider (Electron version only). Superior have found an excellent substitute for Fortress (which is simply not possible on the Electron). Moon Raider is a very good conversion of the old, but immensely popular, Rocket Raid arcade. The sideways scrolling on Moon Raider was a breakthrough in its day. There are no other versions of this game for the Elk and it is well worth getting.

Overall very good value for both BBC and Electron. Much better than Sam 3 or 4.

This is more like it, Superior.
