The Impact Games Club is unique for BBC Micro, Acorn Electron and Archimedes games players. It was established in March 1988 with the aim of providing an unparalleled service. The club stocks a vast range of games and adds all the new releases immediately on launch day.
To complement this service, we produce a growing range of helpsheets, posters and much more. We are also producing our own games which will be exclusively available from the club.
Firstly we'd like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year. With so many new releases this month, it looks as though there should be something to keep everyone happy.
We're certainly happy at the moment due to all the jokes we keep receiving. Keep sending them as last month's "Joke" competition doesn't end until the 30th November 1988. (We put the 31st last month, which was our little joke of course as it doesn't exist!)
After the competition we may well produce a collection of the best jokes (of those that can be legally printed) and offer it as a free alternative to a helpsheet.
This was a hard one to judge as there were a number of ambiguous titles which could arguably not be counted. We accepted all entries that were between 323 and 327. The actual number was 325. We typed them all into Wordwise in alphabetical order to be as accurate as possible.
The winner was Mrs M. Lewtas from Blackpool who agreed with our tally exactly. Congratulations to you Mrs Lewtas.
The jokes competition is going to be even harder to judge!
As far as value for money goes, there has never been a better Xmas. We've got more bargains than have even been on offer before. Beat the Christmas rush by ordering early but don't worry - our same day despatch service will be in operation right up to the big day.
Before we go any further though - our sincerest thanks to everyone who has supported the Club throughout 1988. By joining and ordering through the Club you have helped create the most comprehensive mail order service available for any home computer.
We hope you will continue to support us in 1989. In return we will do our very best to support you with even better bargains, great new games at our low prices and more helpsheets, etc, etc.
See the centre pages of this issue for details of our latest release, Zenon, for the BBC and Electron. This game is written by Ian Collinson (the author of Breakthrough) and is by far his best work to date.
Also released this month is the Electron/BBC cassette version of Clogger. Without a doubt the Electron versions of Clogger and Zenon are about the best conversions to the Electron we have ever seen. The scrolling on both games is incredible and puts a lot of top games to shame. Both Gordon Key and Ian Collinson deserve a medal.
New 1989 Impact releases are underway and include BBC, Electron and Archimedes games. We also intend to release a range of quality budget titles at £2.99 as soon as they are ready.
We are also hoping Mark Gidley will be prepared to do Cheat It Again Joe 4. Joes are very time-consuming to produce for Mark as he puts a great deal of work into them. However, we are confident that the tremendous response to the first three volumes will convince him to get stuck into another. There will certainly be no shortage of class new games to choose from.
Firstly, as you can see from the cover, Summer Olympiad is now out from Tynesoft. They are hoping to release Circus Games and Superman in time for Christmas - but who knows?
Superior may get another Sam launched and One Night In Bangkok could even make it. We've no news yet but we will be stocking anything that comes out as soon as it is released.
Audiogenic are still hoping to release Fab Four, a compilation of four games. Plus Robico are hoping to release Blood Of The Mutineers for BBC/Elk/Archie owners.
Finally news of two games for Archimedes. Basically there's still no news of The Hunt For Red October but Rainbird's chart-topper Starglider 2 should be ready early next year. I can't wait for that one.
