"A good package. It appeals to children, and people looking for educational software could well consider this one, especially as there are three more packs in the series."
Electron User

Introduction

"Remember when you were first learning to read?

How did you say the letters and build up simple words: c-a-t, s-a-t, m-a-t?

The READ RIGHT AWAY series is based on this traditional principle, helping your child to read in a systematic way, using what is called the phonic approach.

Each of the four READING PACKS in the series contains two separate programs which have been specifically designed by Psychologists and teachers to help your child progress naturally, at their own pace, to mastery of a wide range of reading skills.

The outstanding graphics and entertainment quality of these games will make your child eager to learn and progress through the series."

Splashdown

The game takes place at sea, with each player having a "boat" made up of a 3 letter word with one letter missing. The player has to type a letter that would fit in the space to make a word.

At the beginning of the game you can make the following choices:

a) The level (1-5) - this sets the number of mistakes that will be allowed before the game ends (1=easy)
b) Words in groups (groups of similar boats in sequence e.g.: c-t,c-t,c-t)
c) The position of the missing letter (1-3)

Pressing ESCAPE ends the game.

When the space in your boat starts to flash, type a letter that would fit in the space to make a word (names are not allowed, and a particular word can only be used once during a game).

A player wins if he or she has completed five words by the time the game ends.

Firefight

The aim of the game is to rescue a girl from a burning building before the flames get to her!

Each of the four floors of the building is made from a word with the first two letters missing.

Using your fireman, you have to choose a pair of letters (from the stack alongside the building) that would fit each of the words. If you choose the right pair of letters, the fireman will carry them into the building, drop them into place, and climb nearer to rescuing the girl!

1) The skill level (1=Easy): As the level gets higher, you are allowed less time and less mistakes.
2) Which pairs of letters you would like used in each game.

Pressing ESCAPE ends the game.

Move your fireman up and down the ladder using the four cursor keys.

Press RETURN when the fireman's hands are underneath the pair of letters that would fit the word that is on fire!
